Dakota Johnson Looked Ready to Party in a Shimmering Crystal-Covered Minidress
Holiday party season is in full swing and if you're still left wondering exactly how to dress to ring in the winter holidays or the New Year, take a look at Dakota Johnson's shimmering, shiny Gucci outfit for all the inspiration you need. Last night, the 50 Shades actress was in Miami to unveil the Museum of Sex’s upcoming exhibition, Modern Sex: 100 Years of Design and Decency. And while that's perfectly in line with the actress's star turn in that steamy series, let's not forget that she is an investor and the co-creative director of Maude, a sexual wellness brand, which explains why she slipped into the silver dress for the big night.
Johnson curated the new exhibit and arrived ready to party in a silver crystal minidress from Gucci and a matching slouchy jacket which was trimmed in the same sparkling sequins. Styled by Kate Young, as per usual, Johnson finished the look with strappy, party-ready heels.
“I love this look because it’s so simple and so over the top at the same time,” Young told Vogue. “It’s just a slip and a jacket, but all the crystals make it super fun and glamorous.”
For her glam, Johnson paired a dark smoky eye with long, straight hair and her signature bangs. She kept her lip color subdued and simple (and matte) and matched her manicure to her tan lipstick.
Johnson recently opened up about her time on the 50 Shades set. Speaking to Vanity Fair, she said that she doesn’t regret making the movies, but added that if she had known how “psychotic” the process was, “I don’t think anyone would’ve done it.” From the sex to rumors of her not getting along with co-star Jamie Dornan, Johnson was understandably relieved when it was all said and done.
“There was never a time when we didn’t get along,” she said of working with Dornan. “I know it’s weird, but he’s like a brother to me. I love him so, so, so much. And we were really there for each other. We had to really trust each other and protect each other.”
She also confirmed that the movie had been very different initially. The actress noted that the book’s author E.L. James, as well as the studio and directors all clashed and made working on the films difficult for everyone involved.
“I’m a sexual person, and when I’m interested in something, I want to know so much about it,” she added. “That’s why I did those big naked movies. I signed up to do a very different version of the film we ended up making.”
“I was young. I was 23. So, it was scary,” she finished. “It just became something crazy. “There were a lot of different disagreements. I haven’t been able to talk about this truthfully ever, because you want to promote a movie the right way, and I’m proud of what we made ultimately and everything turns out the way it’s supposed to, but it was tricky.”
