New Jersey native Rahem Brown (March 20,[1] 1970 – November 5, 2022), better known by his stage moniker Tame One, was a hip hop recording artist in the United States. He participated in the groundbreaking hip-hop trio The Weathermen, as well as the groundbreaking groups Artifacts and Leak Bros.
The hip-hop community is in grief once again after Takeoff, a member of the rap group Migos, was fatally murdered on Tuesday, November 1, following a private party in Houston. And now it’s for the late Rahem Brown, better known as Tame One. The rapper may have died of natural causes, although it is unclear why.

On the evening of November 6 (Sunday), fellow musician Rah Digga came to Instagram to express her sadness over Tame’s demise. She explained why she didn’t immediately share the news online:

The death of the rapper left many in the Hip-Hop community in disbelief. He had been a part of several influential groups, including The Artifacts, who became famous in the early 1990s with the song “Wrong Side of the Tracks,” as well as The Weathermen and The Leak Bros. Rapper Phonte said, “Tame One Rest In Peace.” One more artist who made Complex’s list of the top 25 A&R reps in hip hop is Dante Ross, who offered the following:
“Have a good night’s sleep, East Tame One of the Artifacts team years ago, I had the privilege of working with him. To his family and friends, I offer my heartfelt sympathies.”
A supporter wrote,
“The death of Artifacts member Tame One has been heard. RIP. My only reaction is shock.” Some other supporter remarked, “One of my favorite emcees is Boom Skwad’s leader, Tame One. My formative adolescent years were profoundly influenced by (and just about every other WKCR listener). The time-traveling components’ provider. Hopefully you’re at peace now, King.”

Biography
The “graffiti-honoring debut” album Between a Rock and a Hard Place by Tame One and El Da Sensei came out in 1994, while the follow-up album That’s Them came out in 1997.
In addition to his two albums with the Artifacts, Tame One has released six solo albums, three mixtapes, and three collaborative albums: one with former labelmate Cage as Leak Bros (Waterworld), one with Del The Funky Homosapien (Parallel Uni-verses), and The Revolution album with Dro Pesci and Nick Jackelson. Aesop Rock, El-P, DJ Mr. Len, Breeze Brewin, Travis McCoy, Vast Aire, Yak Ballz, Hussein Fatal, Mos Def, Dro Pesci, Big Daddy Rap Beast, and KRS-One are just some of the artists he has collaborated with. [2] When Rappers Attack, his first solo album and EC debut, was released in 2002, the same year he joined the underground supergroup the Weathermen, founded by Cage and El-P. In 2005, he released O.G. Bobby Johnson, his second solo album. The next year, he released a new album titled Slow Suicide Stimulus, which was a collaborative effort with the Dusted Dons.
In July of 2009, Derek Pike directed the music video for Tame One’s single “Anxiety Attacks.” known for creating the first “Molly”-themed hip-hop tune (MDMA, the active ingredient in Ecstasy). Tame met Dro Pesci, a rapper from Staten Island, and Nick Jackelson, a producer from that borough. The album “The Revolution” was recorded in its entirety by the two of them.
He has also made available for free download at slangcorp.com a new EP titled “Hell or High Water,” which was produced exclusively by DJ Junkwaffel.
Brown was promoting a Boom Skwad Recordings solo mix cd titled “Skwadzilla” and recording a reunion album with El Da Sensei and DJKaos 1200 for the Artifacts label in 2014.
