You, Me and the Apocalypse Star Gaia Scodellaro
Move over, Cara and Gigi—there are a new set of arches in town. Meet Gaia Scodellaro, star of the NBC dramedy, You, Me and the Apocalypse, and the latest beauty that has been giving us major brow inspo ever since we shot her for InStyle's February issue.
While there’s no doubt that the Italian-born, Bronx-bred actress is naturally gifted in the brow department, there are a few easy things you can do to fake a full set like hers. “For defined arches that still appear soft, use a powder that is a shade or two lighter than your own,” says makeup artist Laura Dominique, who created Scodellaro’s look for our feature.
“I mixed a dark brown shade (MAC Cosmetics Eyeshadow in Espresso, $16; maccosmetics.com) with a warm caramel one (MAC Cosmetics Eyeshadow in Saddle, $16; maccosmetics.com) to soften the effect and complement the gorgeous amber tones in her hair," she says.
And using a light hand is important, too, even if you’re just filling in the gaps. “Try a small angled brush (Shu Uemura Natural Brush 60b, $29; shuuemura-usa.com) to push the color in and then delicately fuzz it out with a bristle brush,” she says. “This helps blend in the color, especially around the edges, leaving only a trace of the pigment behind."
Once the brows were set, Dominique decided to keep it simple for the rest of Scodellaro’s face. “Gaia doesn’t wear a lot of makeup when she is off-duty, so she loved the idea of this minimal, modern look,” she says.
See Gaia Scodellaro on You, Me and the Apocalypse, premiering tonight at 8 p.m. ET on NBC. And to see our full feature with the star, pick up the February issue of InStyle, now available on newsstands and for digital download.
